We recently invited our parents in to listen to us perform at our recorder concert.
Ms McCauley’s class played Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen, Amazing Grace, Whistling Gypsy, All Night All Day, When the Saints Go Marching In.
Ms Magee’s class played Mountains of Mourne, Curragh of Kildare, Sally Gardens and other tunes, the boys sang Raglan Road while the girls sang The Connemara Cradle Song as they took us on a musical journey of Ireland.
Ms Gibson’s class took us on their journey around countries of the world and played Muss i denn, Let the Toast Pass / Ye Banks & Braes, Portuguese Dance, Santa Lucia and many others.
We finished off by playing Ode to Joy before we thanked Mrs Currid for teaching us all year. We have gained so much from Mrs Currid and are grateful to her for sharing her love of music and her talent with us.
Music plays an integral part of school life in Creevy. Children regularly get to perform at school events, such as assembly, concerts and school masses.
The school choir is regularly invited to perform at local parish events, such as First Holy Communion, Confirmation and Christmas ceremonies.
Children from second to sixth class learn the recorder and each class get the opportunity to perform at music concerts at the end of the school year.
In December 2012 the junior end of the school took to the stage for our annual Christmas productions and an enjoyable night was had by all.
